Mark Twain International School is an international private school for students between 3-18 years old, and was founded in 1995 by Anca Macovei Vlasceanu and Dan Macovei Vlasceanu. It functions according to the Education Law as a non-profit organization.
The main teaching languages are English and Romanian, the school's profile being that of a bilingual school.
MTIS has a school campus made up of six adjacent buildings and afferent grounds in Baneasa - the residential North area of Bucharest.
School campus, amenities & resources
MTIS functions in a school campus situated in the "green" north part of Bucharest, the campus is made up of six closed buildings where the fourth levels carry on their activities. The equipment is all very modern and the classrooms are bright and welcoming. The school offers:
• a generous library;
• audio-video systems in each classroom;
• 3 IT&C labs (60 computers);
• 2 Science labs;
• 3 gyms;
• art, music and theatre workshops;
• cafeterias;
• medical office;
• a video camera system in each classroom for students' safety;
• swimming pool etc.
MTIS has carried out a project in which it requested to be financed in order to have built a modern campus in the near future. The new campus will satisfy the increasing need for space for all pre-university levels: pre-primary, primary, middle age and baccalaureate.
The up to date educational resources used by students and teachers are ordered from famous national and international publishing houses.
Meals & transportation
MTIS has 2 kitchens, 2 dining rooms and 2 teams of talented cooks. The school gives students the opportunity to have up to 4 meals a day (according to students' program): breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks (fruit and pastries).
MTIS has recently bought 15 new Renault buses which assure, according to current requests, 80% of the daily school transportation in best conditions of safety and comfort. Students can choose transportation from home or from a central place from Bucharest.
